It’s hard to imagine that 2015 was ten years ago. However, it’s important to focus on the future. But, how could I not reflect on the past when I was tucked away on New Years due to being sick? I was weirdly nostalgic when I was anticipating 2025. Especially since it’s been a decade since I met my best friend. Today’s piece be discussing my five favourite looks and why I loved them.
One thing I remember and love from 2015 was the amount of lace that was featured in everything. I often think about these black shorts with lace I wore… once. They were cute, don’t get me wrong! But, shorts? Lace? An interesting combination to say the least. However I distinctly recall watching Say Yes to The Dress and thinking, “My wedding dress needs to have lace!”. I was twelve. The photo attached isn’t the exact photo of the shorts, but they were the ones most similar the ones I had!
Leather Jackets.
There is a particular casual day look I recall fondly. Picture this: Blue jean jeggings, a grey sweater, and a leather jacket. It was November 2015 and I thought this look was genius. However, looking back. I don’t know if I’d wear this again. But, leather jackets sure are cute! Faux leather is the route I’d take.
Skinny Jeans.
The uncomfortably black pants no one could forget about. While skinny jeans have been around since the 2000s, they definitely were well liked in 2015. They had their time! I discussed this with my dear friend, Alex recently. The look of a band tee with black skinny jeans is one to be remembered.
Bomber Jackets
This paired with a skinny jeans? Oh, iconic! This look was comfortable and I remember seeing the rise of bomber jackets first hand on casual day at school, since uniforms were the norm. I remember my army green one like it was yesterday!
Band tees. As someone who loved a good band, I remember brands such as Brandy Melville selling a Rolling Stones shirt. The iconic tongue intrigued me and I knew my dad would love it. I loved it and wore it often.
Finding this shirt made me incredibly nostalgic. No lie, I feel like I’m twelve again seeing this.
In order to move forward with the future, we must reflect on how far we’ve come. Our style has evolved. However, so has social media. More on this next week;) Until next time, bye!💌
